The Synod of Dordt (1618–1619)
A historic Reformed synod in Dordrecht, Netherlands—remembered in the college name chosen in 1956.
When trustees renamed Midwest Christian Junior College in April 1956, they chose “Dordt” to honor the Synod of Dordrecht (1618–1619), a gathering that affirmed Reformed confessions and the sovereignty of God’s grace.
College leaders explained that the name would remind the community of its heritage and signal what the institution stood for: faithfulness to Scripture in every discipline.
