The Diamond reported in 2021 that East Campus had been described as temporary housing for roughly sixty years—dating the complex to the 1960s.

A 2011 renovation removed some amenities (including in-building laundry) but kept apartment-style kitchens. Students pay the same room-and-board as Southview/Kuyper residents while often lacking comparable facilities.
